Saturday Mornings 8:15am at Jai Dee Yoga Studio

Beginning February 11th I will be teaching at Jai Dee Yoga Saturday mornings at 8:15am! This will be a 60 minute Baptiste Inspired vinyasa flow for all levels. Jai Dee Yoga is located at 5610 N Nebraska Ave, Tampa, FL 33604. I hope that you'll come and share your practice with me at Jai Dee.

This Baptiste Inspired Power Yoga flow is a perfect place for people to begin their yoga practice or to reconnect with their yoga roots. Personal attention and modifications are used that makes this class perfect for both beginners, through pregnancy and seasoned practitioners seeing a deep knowledge of the poses. Class moves slower than a Power Vinyasa class and poses are held for 5 breaths or more. In every single class you will move through a series of strength building poses, balancing poses, backbends, and inversions.
Baptiste Yoga was founded in the 1940′s by Walt Baptiste and through his son Baron, it has evolved into a practice that holds true to the spirit of its creation while remaining accessible to anyone today. The physical aspects of Baptiste Yoga style are inspired by the Hatha Yoga teachings of Krishnamacharya and his students Iyengar and Desikachar.
This class is a trial engagment! Class attendance will dictate if this class gets added to the regular schedule.

Jai Dee Yoga has a new student special of your first 5 classes for $25 or a ten pack of classes for $100. Additional pricing is listed on their website.

Embrace Your Destiny - 60 Minute Baptiste Inspired Power Vinyasa Audio Video Recording

Here is an audio recording of a recent 60 minute Baptiste inspired power vinyasa yoga class I taught at Jai Dee Yoga in Tampa, FL. The reading I chose was "Embrace Your Destiny" from Melody Beattie's Journey To The Heart.

Embrace Your Destiny

“How often we search outside of ourselves for some elusive moment, for an experience like someone else is having, for an emotion we’d like to feel but aren’t, at least not right now. How often we long to be somewhere other than where we are, or someone other than who we are. How easy it can be to complain about and regret our past, thinking it’s somehow wrong. The answer is to fall in love—fall in love with our own life. Our destiny isn’t some far-off moment or something that happens to someone else. Our destiny is taking place right now. It’s been happening all along.
Destiny is that mysterious force or energy that magically intertwines with choice, free will, and fate. Let all those elements weave together and create your life. But know you can help to create it too, by falling in love with your own life. Love all the places you have gone and all the places you will go. Love the lessons you have learned and the way you have learned them.”

Experience the Thrill of the Climb - 60 minute Baptiste Inspired Power Vinyasa Audio Video Recording

Here is an audio recording of a recent 60 minute Baptiste inspired power vinyasa yoga class I taught at Jai Dee Yoga in Tampa, FL. The reading I chose was "Experience the Thrill of the Climb" from Melody Beattie's Journey To The Heart.

Experience the Thrill of the Climb

Don’t stop now. You’re almost there.

You’ve worked so hard to climb this mountain. In the beginning, you were excited. Exhilarated at the prospect of the mountain you were about to climb. Now, you are almost to the top. You’ve struggled, gotten weary, and kept going. Now, your goal is in sight.
Keep going. Guidance is still there to help you. The life force, the one that keeps you going, keeps you moving forward, is still there too, burning brightly within you, charging all that you do with its energy. It is more difficult for you to feel it, but that is only because you’re tired.
See the mountain climber as he climbs the mountain. There are dangers and precipices and challenges along the way. But the higher he climbs, the steeper it gets. The more tired he is, the more energy he has to put into the climb. Don’t tell yourself that the way you feel is an indication you should stop. The way you feel now is the way anyone would feel who was so deeply committed to life. It’s the way anyone would feel who had committed to climbing that mountain.
Don’t stop now. Relax as much as you can. Know that the rhythm of life is still there, moving you forward. Don’t look back. Focus intently on each step. Soon you will reach the top. Soon you will reach your goal. Soon you will experience the victory. Keep your eyes focused on the path; look straight ahead. Embrace the thrill of the climb.”

Creating Space

Part of the process towards achieving Baptiste certification is teaching. The prerequisite before applying for certification is to teach 100 classes. This equals out to be two classes a week for a year which is quite difficult to do while maintaining a day job which requires sporadic and unpredictable travel. It is for this reason that I decided to transform a room in our home into a space for others to practice and where I can easily get more experience in teaching.

The room is 10 x 14, has hardwood floors and lots of windows (not a plus in winter or for handstand practice!) but is easily separated from the rest of the house by the floor to ceiling curtain I created. I am currently researching whole room heaters that will allow me to gently warm to the room to 90 (if possible). The space presents challenges with the plethora of windows and the fabric curtain separating the room from our kitchen. I'm confident that I can find a solution to work within these confines to create a pleasant, useable space for yogis.

Stay tuned for what I find out with regard to space heaters/humidifiers.
